About Me
Welcome to my website! I have tried to fill it with information that will help you with your home search or sale, or just assist you in learning more about this corner of the beautiful Finger Lakes. I add to it regularly, so please check back, and please consider me whenever you or your friends need the services of a Realtor.
The Way I Live Now
I have lived in the Ithaca area for most of my life. I attended Cornell University as an undergraduate, moved away for a few years, then (like many Cornell and Ithaca College graduates) moved back in my late twenties. My husband and I bought our starter home in 1983 and we are still there! We love our neighbors, the ease of living in a small city, and being able to walk to Collegetown restaurants, downtown Ithaca, and the Cornell campus. We especially love the fact that our daughter and son-in-law live just a few miles away and that we see our beautiful grandchildren almost every day. We also have a wonderful son and daughter-in-law who live in Atlanta with their two daughters. Both our children are graduates of Ithaca High School and Cornell.
Before I joined Audrey Edelman & Associates in 1995, I worked for eleven years as Director of the DeWitt Historical Society of Tompkins County, now called the History Center. Years of doing research and answering questions gave me important skills that help me protect the interests of my real estate clients, and a deep appreciation of area history and architecture.
My Passions
In addition to my family, real estate, and local history, I am passionate and serious about the piano and a few years ago had the pleasure of purchasing a 1927 Steinway K from a family whose house I sold.
We have had the same season tickets to Cornell Men’s Hockey games since 1979, even longer than we have owned our starter home. We love movies (at local theaters and via NetFlix and Roku) and movie trivia.
Another passion is travel. My husband is English and when our children were small we made lengthy visits to the UK every other year. Now that we are empty-nesters we have ventured into other countries and have made visits to Australia, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Turkey, Hungary, Austria, Denmark, Spain, France, and Ireland.
My Civic Duty
Volunteering is an important part of my life. It was how I was raised, and I believe civic involvement is a crucial component of healthy cities. I co- chaired the Education Committee of the Ithaca Board of Realtors for ten years, and recently finished a seven-year stint as membership chair of the Belle Sherman/Bryant Park Civic Association. I’m also on the advisory boards of the History Center and the Cornell University Chimes. I served on the board of Historic Ithaca 2003-2009 and on the City Parks Commission for over 20 years. Currently I serve on the Pride of Ownership Awards Committee, a project of the City of Ithaca and the Ithaca Rotary Club, and the Tompkins County Independent Redistricting Commission.
