Snapshots from the 2011 Audrey Edelman Statistics Book

The median residential selling price in 2011 (in Tompkins County) was $184,000, up from a low of $170,000 in 2009 and just under the peak of $185,000 in 2007.

In 2006 there were 823 residential closed sales in Tompkins County.  In 2007 there were 773, and in 2011 there were 627.

In 2007, a house was on the market (list date to closing date) for an average of 127 days.  In 2011 this number was 142.

In 2011 the busiest months for real estate sales were March, April, and May.  This is true for most years, unless something is going on such as the first-time buyer stimulus.
